The foundation presents a superb exhibition by the Dutch artist entitled "Calm and exaltation - Van Gogh in the Bürhle collection".
Six paintings belong to the collection of the Swiss industrialist, one of the two others is a loan from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
The collection by Emil Bürhle highlights the evolution of the artist's palette over the years, with the blatant clarification of the colors between the paintings of his youth and the brilliants hues of the Provençal landscapes.
The American artist Alice Neel, whose expressive Van Gogh was a great source of inspiration, is also the subject of a great retrospective in Europe and the foundation exhibits more than sixty of her works. Her portraits and canvases in general reveal a great intimacy, the realism with which she paints the characters of disadvantaged backgrounds is startling.
